Kate Campbell – Satellite manager for Hinchingbrooke and Papworth
Kate joined the NHS in 1981 and is a qualified biomedical scientist. She is responsible for the day-to-day strategic management of the satellite laboratories at Hinchingbrooke and Papworth hospitals. Kate has undertaken a variety of roles within the areas of transfusion science, haematology and immunology. During her time at NHS Blood and Transplant she specialised in the field of platelet immunology and through collaboration with colleagues from the University of Cambridge, she published in the fields of allo and autoimmune thrombocytopenia.
After joining Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in 2006 as the head biomedical scientist in immunology, Kate completed an MSc in management and leadership, focusing on the use of coaching to facilitate change within a healthcare setting. Her studies encouraged her to move firstly to lead workforce development and latterly to manage the service improvement programme for pathology at Papworth. In July 2015 Kate was appointed to the role of site manager for the Pathology Partnership’s services at Hinchingbrooke and Papworth.
